Test-driving the CLS 55

Last Thursday, I was running errands around Subang and already half way to Subang Parade to buy some doughnuts when Khoo called me and told me that I could collect the CLS. I could keep the car for a day instead of 2 days that he promised me because the owner of the car (CEO of Daimler Chrysler Malaysia) wanted to use it on Saturday. I got so excited, as initially we were supposed to get the car on the 26th.

So, off we went to collect the car at about 4.00 pm at DCM office at Menara TM. At first, I thought we were going to get an ordinary CLS... Little did I know that Khoo had arranged for us to test drive an AMG tuned CLS, an ultimate car in its class. It was a 5500 cc car, black color with full specs. I don't know much about this class as I am not really interested in cars I couldn't afford so there's so little description I can offer. But, all I can tell you that this car is to die for. I wouldn't mind getting this car if I have a billion to my name! This car is being sold at 1.3 mil and there's less than 10 units on the road in Malaysia. I went to collect this car with Bo and right after collecting it, we went to fetch Prof. Fendi at Putera Pacific Hotel in KL. From there, I drove the car back to Subang to send Prof. Fendi to Holiday Inn Glenmarie. On the way though, there were a 3 series BMW and a Honda Prelude (both black) in front of me racing, couldn't help but I raced along with them. I got from 80km/hour to 170km/hour in a matter of 4 seconds! Obviously the two cars were left behind at a verrryyyy long distance.. As I slowed down, the BMW went on another way and the Honda passed me. He looked at me and I can see the disappointment or rather, embarrassment on his face.. I guess he was embarrassed to have been won over on the highway by a lady driver.. hehehe!

That night, we called a few friends for a small TT and to give a preview and maybe let them test drive the car. 5 Mybenz members came and they went off to test drive the car. All had their fair share of driving pleasure. Ameer actually went twice! Anyway, we had great fun talking about the driving experience of it. I also found out that the CLS is similar to the W211 (the latest E) and that CLS is using the same platform. That's great! It means we can get the same driving pleasure for 1 million less, but of course the performance is not the same as the engine capacity would be different. I told Bo I don't mind getting the 211 instead.. :)

Funny though that I couldn't sleep that night; part of me was worried about the car being parked at our open parking space at the apartment complex, if something happened (scratch or dent) we wouldn't be able to cover the cost to fix it... I stress again, it's a bloody 1.3 mil worth of car! And more importantly, part of me was worried sick of my car that is being parked at Menara TM's parking spot. And I actually felt bad, I felt as if I was having an affair and I left Mercy there in a foreign place with no one to look after her. She has been so good to me, how can I be out having good time with a new car and ignore her like that?? Therefore, as soon as I woke up the next morning, I kept on saying to Bo that we need to get Mercy and give back the CLS. He was delayed in a meeting and I was anxious to get my Mercy back. So, at 4.30 pm, we collect Mercy back and boy.. was I relieved to see her! I missed her so much that I drove her to Nilai and back to Cheras for another TT session with Mybenzers.

At the TT, I was given the task to do the door gift bags for the anniversary trip to Kuantan this coming March 1st. I got so excited, something to fill my days with. At the TT also, they were talking a lot about the CLS and how fast a car it was. I got to meet some new members and we went home feeling rather tired... As we were arriving home, Bo said that maybe he'll get the W211 and let me drive it when/if the baby comes... and he would have Mercy.. we'll see...
