A day at a time..

Bo was suggesting that we go out looking for his 'Lazy Chair' at Ikano Power Centre after we do all our banking errands. I said yes, of course. Ikano has always been a favorite place for me. It's not as big and not so small and I can get almost anything there.

We went to Harvey Norman but couldn't find anything that is within our budget. The price of a leather ones are from RM5000-10,000!!! Thought that we could find one at Macy's but they were even more expensive, at least RM18,000! I thought these people must be crazy to charge people that sort of money for a bloody chair!! Then, I suggested Ikea. Ikea is known for the 'cheap' furniture anyway.. I was glad when Bo told me that he finally found one that he really likes. Though not as plush or posh as the previous ones we saw, but it is as comfortable... At RM400++, we saved at least RM4000!

Happy that we saved some money, we went back to the electrical appliances store and bought some... well, electrical appliances (what else?) We both agreed that the TV in our bedroom is quite old and that we should change it already. So, we decided to get a 32" LCD as it can save some space in the room. Along the way, we also got a new toaster... I have this thing for Roti Bakar eversince someone bought me a home-made kaya all the way from Kelantan. And when I tried to use my existing toaster last week, it almost killed me to find out that they are cockroaches remains in it!! Goes to show that I've never used it since hmmm... since I bought it? Wait! I didn't buy that toaster! I won it in a lucky draw some three years ago.. And then I saw it, a discount on a curler iron... I couldn't help but take it. Not that I don't have 2 already... You may never know when they might die on me one of these days, so it's good to have spare, don't you think?

We reached home feeling satisfied. Satisfied that we get to save on the chair and bought more things with the money.. While I was in the kitchen cooking, Bo was in the hall trying to assemble the chair and a guy from the electrical shop set up the new TV. Bo finished just in time for dinner and I could hear his stomach growl! Must be hungry after all that handyman jobs!

After the dinner, we tried to fit in the new chair to a corner where he could sit and watch the sports channel. It doesn't match the idea of our hall, maybe it's the color. That's why I have this little plan of getting the chair repainted to match all the furniture in the hall.. shhhh...

Oh well, as long as he's happy and most important is I'm happy...

That's the chair; don't you agree that maybe it should be in darker color?

This used to be in the corner where the new chair is now. It was hardly being used, except to store CDs & DVDs.

That's the new TV in the bedroom... Total bliss! Loving it big time!

What a long way!

A couple of days ago, we found out that we needed to be in Melaka yesterday for a dinner with our Taiwanese partners. Bo & me decided to leave early so we could play a round of golf in Melaka in the morning. So at 6.30 AM, we left Subang for Melaka.

Golf went well, I scored the lowest, even played better than Bo on the 2nd nine... hehehe!

And then, we went to check in at Holiday Inn Melaka (officially my favorite hotel in Melaka). At 5.00 pm, we went down to the spa to have the much needed spa treatment for couple. And while waiting at the spa's lobby, there was a local drama filming going on but too bad I didn't recognize any of the actors, except maybe for Louisa Chong. But the spa staffs were all excited about one particular male actor but I don't know who he was. Anyway, the spa went on for one and a half hour and it was so relaxing that we felt like sleeping there for the night.

But of course, we had a dinner to attend. So, after we went up to our room and checked emails etc., I was about to take my shower and get ready when I realized that the shower tub leaked. Bo had a bath first and when he tried to drain the water, it leaked all over the floor and it was flooded! I called the front desk and let them know and in a matter of half an hour, we had another room. That's why I now declare that Holiday Inn Melaka as my favorite hotel.

We woke up early to get to the buffet breakfast and after that packed our things for the trip back to KL. Along the way, I tried to sleep but couldn't since there were so many road accidents. There was one that involved fatality! I saw the body lying motionless covered with black plastic bag by the road side. This, of course caused a massive traffic jam.

But all that experience was a distant memory by the time we reached KLCC... I insisted that we dropped by there to collect my bracelet and new starfish necklace. Along the way though, I managed to do a little bit of extra shopping. I got a new make-up case/bag for traveling and some golf stuffs.

Though it was a long way back to KL, I didn't mind it at all!

Tired but loving it!

After a very early and exhausting 18-hole round of golf in Rawang, we made our way to KLCC to have lunch at to get some things for me. We were supposed to meet up a few people but all of them couldn't make it at the last minute.

So, what a girl to do to kill time in a shopping centre? Shop! Of course!

I was glad that I took my bracelets with me today. First off after the late lunch, we headed to Louis Vuitton to look for a new wallet/purse for me... The old one that I have is pretty much worn out. And so I spent almost half an hour at LV trying to find something I really like but I found none. I found that the designs are all too old fashioned and I couldn't imagine myself wearing them. A couple of doors away from LV is Mont Blanc. We went in, intending just to look at the jewelery but when the sales assistant showed me a wallet, I fell in love and purchase it right away. Apparently it's called LA VIE DE BOHÈME and here's what it looks like.

Next, we went to Tifanny & Co to send my silver bracelet for service and to show Bo the jewelry that I so want! Unfortunately, we couldn't get it today as they need to polish it first. So first thing tomorrow, I am going to wake up super early and make my way to KLCC to pick up the gifts from him... Yeay! Oh, and also I might get a matching bracelet just for the fun of it.. I love bracelets so much! Oh and Luce, I've decided on the below designs...

And then, we went to Swaroski counter to send off the bracelet that Lucy got for me last year for service. Some of their crystals need to be replaced badly... See I really treasure your gift, darl!

Finally, to complete my shopping for the day, I went to Shu Uemura to get the cleansing oil that I have been sampling and totally loving it. And, I get a lot of free gifts from the girls, skincare for anti-aging range... Do I really need it? I wonder.

So, not bad for killing off time, right? Though it was tiring, the day has been productive. I hope Bo thinks so too! hehehe..

Cornetto, koneto??

While at the airport yesterday, someone mistaken me for someone else. She thought I was someone famous. I was going through the airport security when she asked me:

Airport policewoman: Macam pernah nampak kau ni...

Me: (Handing over my IC) Saya dari Menggatal, mengkali dari situ la kau kenal saya.

Airport police: Ya, mengkali la...

As I went through the scanner and was about to pick up my handbag at the end of the conveyor belt, she came to me and whispered;

AP: Saya ada beli ba album kau, itulah saya kenal kau..

Me: (huh?) Salah orang kau ni, saya bukan artis.. hehehe.. (so that she doesn't get so embarrassed) Tapi banyak orang silap ingat saya artis (cheh!)

Bo was laughing at me all the way to the immigration counter.

Then, I recalled a Filipino lady at the place where I had my nails done for Mom's birthday dinner. She said I looked so much like a Filipino actress by the name of Cornetto or Koneto... I didn't really hear her because the hairdryer was so noisy and I didn't bother asking her again for confirmation. I thought I heard she said that the actress is a little bit chubbier than me, or was it the other way around?

Anyway, I tried to google the actress to see if we really look alike but I failed to get any image of her.. Maybe somebody can give me the right spelling of her name?

What a day!

I typed some entry to this blog while at the airport this morning but scrapped them. You see, I thought I can expect what was going to happen but boy, was I wrong...

I didn't really get that much sleep last night, mainly because I had to do a lot of packing for the trip back to KL. After the packing, instead of getting the much deserving rest, I took out the computer and started browsing the internet for blog layout. Then I got carried away. I ended up going to sleep at almost 2 in the morning.

We had to get up early today because we had a flight to catch at 6.00 AM. By 5AM, we were already at the airport and were already planning on what to do as soon as we reached the apartment. It was interesting at the airport; we met The Philippines Ladies Golf National Squad. One of them was the champion at The Sabah Open held last weekend at The Karambunai Golf & Country Club. Bo & me were lucky when we get to play a round of practice golf with them last Thursday, all mentioned in my other blog.

The aircraft we were on was supposed to take off at exactly 6.00 am but just as when the plane was taking up speed, suddenly we heard brake. The captain announced that there's a technical problem and they may take 1/2 hour for it to be ready to take off. I was so looking forward to sleep in the plane throughout that 2 1/2 journey so I thought I could sleep when they were fixing the plane. But another announcement came out saying that all the passengers have to leave the plane and wait at the terminal. Hesitantly, everybody left the plane. At the terminal, they announced again that we could only fly at 11.15 am which was in another 2 hours time. And so we waited for 2 hours at the airport.

When we were asked to board another plane at 11.30 am, everybody was relieved. As soon as I was seated, I fell asleep until we reached KL. It was very tiring, and disappointing but happy that we get to reach KL finally.

I was rather exhausted so as soon as I finished unpacking, I took my shower and hit the bed, fell asleep with the TV on and all.

What to do...

I got a text from Lucy today asking if I can really make it to her wedding in London at the end of this month. Before she left KL more than a week ago, Bo told her that we may not be able to go due to work commitment. I know she'd really love to have us there, and I on the other hand would really love to be there. So when I asked Bo again and he said 'No', it really broke my heart.

I was excited when he said we could go last month, but when someone f***ed up with something in the company, he has to be around to make sure that everything going on smoothly. And at these moments of time, he can't risk not being around in case something important comes up. I could go alone, by myself but the thought of traveling alone 14 hour long flight and sleeping alone in a foreign country is not what I would want to go through.

There goes my European trip! Guess I'll never know if I am to set my foot there ever again...sob...sob...sob...

So Lucy darling, from the bottom of my heart, I apologize. I will make it up to you someday.

Big is beautiful

I know I am not the only one who watch America's Next Top Model religiously. It's been a hit since it was first introduced to our telly. Of all the cycles, up to 10 now, I like latest one the most. Forget about all the cat fights and gossips. This time around, there was less of that.

As I was watching it on Youtube today, I waited patiently for Tyra Bank to announce the winner of Cycle 10, and when she finally announced Whitney, I was glad. I do like the other girl too but I think it's about time that they put the spotlight on plus-size models/girls.

So, here's to Whitney... May she inspires many more full figured women out there.

I love my Mommy.

Trying to get my eyes tired and sleepy after the one-hour long of American Idol inspired me to write this. Today is Mom's birthday. I thought of doing something special for her today.

Baby & me went to Wisma Merdeka today to get her presents. I have planned that we will be presenting the gifts to her at the dinner table tonight. It didn't take a long time to get her the presents she deserved. Baby got her a perfume from Elizabeth Arden, Provocative which is her favorite scent and I got her a gold chain & pendant. Cost me a bomb but Mom is worth it!

After the shopping, we went to Little Italy for the dinner. I had Ale Vongole while the rest had ordered something else. By the way, vongole cooked in white sauce in linguine has always been my favorite Italiano.
We had great time at the dinner with Mom telling us stories about her retirement/farewell party thrown for her by her office mates. We laughed and hugged and took some pictures. Mom was surprised by the service staffs when they came out with a slice of nice tiramisu cake and sang Happy Birthday. The rest of the restaurant's patrons sang along and clapped their hands. Mom blushed and was beaming, which I thought was very cute actually.

We went home feeling full and happy and here's wishing Mom Happy Birthday, may God bless her with good health and fortune.

Under the tree

We headed home feeling rather exhausted after a round of 18-hole golf at the Kudat Golf Club. The Isuzu Invader my brother drove us in was the least comfortable car, especially if you are riding at the backseat of that car. Before heading back to KK, we dropped by and bought a lot of seafood especially fresh fishes and shell fishes, something that can rarely be found in Subang and I have been missing a lot. We also stumbled upon wild mushrooms being sold by the Rungus women.

So on the way back to KK from Kudat, we made some phone calls to invite our cousins, aunts & uncles to have grilled fishes and exotic seafoods for dinner. They arrived right after work and we started chatting outside while Mom & baby were in the kitchen preparing food.

And then suddenly I heard a loud sound of what sound like something fell hard on the ground. Aunt Una was still talking away when I heard hissing sound, reminded me of my experience with Greg few years ago, was it 1996 or 1997. Then I muttered "Typhoon..", and then the electricity was off... I called again "Typhoon!!" and started packing every thing that I could on the table outside at the veranda. We went inside the house and before we could close the main door, strong winds attacked us... and didn't stop until after more than 1 hour and then followed by heavy rain. My mind went to my Dad, he was still outside.

When my sister's husband came home, he told us that he couldn't get in the house's compound because there was a huge tree fell off right in front of our gate. The tree hit the gate pillar and almost broke it... Basically, people in the house couldn't get out and people outside couldn't get in, unless you are willing to climb the fences, and they are like 8 feet tall!

Dad came home almost in the middle of the night and he had to go around the house and came in through the 'never-been-used' backyard's gate. The rain has subdued by then, but the tree was still blocking the way.

The last thing I saw before I went up to bed was everybody gambling away playing Russian Poker and Dad was already home. I needed to get up early for the golf game anyway.

Finally Home

I couldn't sleep well last night, mostly because I had to make sure that I packed everything for this trip. I arrived at KLIA half an hour later than I have planned since the alarm clock that I have been depending on to wake me up had died on me, how perfect was the timing?

Anyway, I managed to do a little shopping at the airport... That was why I planned to arrived at least at least 2 hours early. I know the duty free/discount at the airport is worth it... I got to save almost RM200 on my skin care.

The flight was okay except a little bit of turbulence now and then. Apparently, it was raining heavily this morning and it hasn't been raining for more than a week now. And then, all of a sudden it rained heavy today. Maybe we brought the rain to KK. But that didn't stop us to play a 9-hole golf game at the KGC. That was the first time I played with my Dad and I was nervous.

I was excited to come home to see Mom especially since this Sunday is Mother's Day and she will be going to Labuan with Dad to send Azie off to college. I was also excited to see Azie. More because I have a present for her, for doing a good job for her SPM. I have already gave half of her present and the Ipod Nano I got for her today will complete my series of present for her. Isn't she a spoiled sister?

Anyway, while Mom, Dad & Azie are off to Labuan tomorrow, Bo, me and my brothers will be off to see my ailing granny in Kota Marudu. After that, we will be going to Kudat to spend a night there and will be playing another round of golf at the Kudat Golf & Marina Resort on Monday morning before heading back to KK.

I have laid down my planned itinerary for this trip and all I can say is it sure looks tight and interesting.

May 6, 2008

How long does it take you?

I am so sure that this happens to almost all married women out there... Whenever you & your partner are going out for dinner or something, no matter how quick you thought you get ready, the men always outdo you. They always finished faster.

I remember Bo said to me just before we were going out for dinner a couple of days ago; "I think I will get ready 1 hour after you finished with your shower... you always take longer than that"... Come to think of it, it's actually true. He thought it's the make up that takes forever, but to me what takes me forever is the routine after the shower. I'm not sure about you guys out there, but my routine after shower always involve facial care (face wash, toner, sun screen lotion, moisturizer, serum, & eye gel), body care (body lotion, deodorant, body sculpture lotion and perfume) and only then follows the make up.

I recall a casual talk I had with some girlfriends, they usually take just 5-10 minutes to apply their make up which probably just the basic. But being me, I go full on every time. My make up routine includes all there is to do with make up. Starting with primer, to foundation & concealer, to loose powder, to eyeshadow base, eyeshadow (all three - base, contour, highlighter), to eyeliner, mascara & fake lashes, then to eyebrow color, to blusher & bronzer to lip liner, lipstick & finally lip gloss.

Then... works on the hair begins. It usually takes longer if I didn't wash my hair because it always takes time perfecting a bun or a ponytail... If I washed the hair, it takes me only minutes to blow dry them or sometimes I like to just let it dry naturally.

And when all of these are done only I think about what to wear for the day... Geez.. I don't think it takes 1 hour at all! It's probably 2!

That is why I insist on getting early notice every time.

Homecoming...

I called my Dad yesterday to see if he wants to come to KL since Mom & Azie left for Bali for a full one week. He'll be lonely, I thought... So maybe, bring him here for many many rounds of golf can make him feel lively.

Unfortunately, his mother is very ill now and my Dad mentioned that she wishes to see me before she passes. I felt terrible. The last time I saw her was last year and that's almost a year. I now know that I need to make the trip home before anything happens to her. So, Bo & me decided that we'll go back this weekend to visit her, maybe for the last time.

We were very close, my granny & me. She used to take care of me when my parents were both teaching. She took care of my lunch and told me stories of our ancestors. I found a lot about my Dad from her that I wouldn't know from anybody, even from my Mom or my Dad himself.
It is actually hurting to see her in this condition. The last time I saw her, she didn't even recognize me. She just said 'Who are you? You are so pretty...' It brought tears to my eyes, because she used to call me the 'pretty one' in the family.. Not that she comparing all her granddaughters. I used to listen to her stories until late at nights even when it was a school days because she made it so interesting. I remember how she used to sing that few-lines Japanese song that she learned because she was secretly in love with a Japanese Army during the Japanese time. I remember all the stories about my Dad when he was a little boy and how hard their lives were because his father/her husband left them when he was merely 5 years old to marry another woman. I remember how she reminds me that I have to meet up all my father's siblings (half & full) because I may lost count one of these days (I think I already have).

Hard as it is, I have to face the fact that she will be gone soon. But the only thing I need to do before it really happens is to see her for the last time.

May 3, 2008

Please don't let it be that bad!

Why? Just when I am feeling excited, something happened and that excitement gone just like that?

Bo gave me a rather bad news today that something bad has happened to his new business venture. Just when I thought I can get excited over it, someone made a stupid mistake and ruined it all for us...

Come Monday we will find out if it's really really that bad...

It's the thought that counts...

I didn't get the golf bag for Bo as I mentioned earlier in my previous post because:

1) When I told him that The Golf House was having sale and the Ashworth's golf bag was selling at a cheap price, he didn't sound excited. He said "I have too many golf bags to spare already..."

2) I always thought that he could smell nicer than Mont Blanc's Skywalker.

3) He's been complaining about back pain a lot lately... and I need him to be in tip top condition for our trips in the coming weeks.

and 4) I would like to get him something that I can enjoy myself too! hehehe...

So, instead of the golf bag, I bought him the new line of body fragrance from Dunhill, called Dunhill London.. At RM300, it comes with a shower gel, deodorant and 2 toiletries bags. And that was only for our anniversary... For his birthday, I got him a line of therapeutic heated pillows from Culpeper, these pillows are filled with wheat and lavender. It's so relaxing. For RM280, it comes with a back pillow, a neck pillow and eye pillow. All in rich burgundy color. The eye pillow is made of satin and what can be more luxurious than that?

So, everyday from today I am going to heat the pillows in microwave so I can give him the total relaxation that he needs, which I'm sure more than another golf bag... After all, that's exactly what he needs after all that golf games...

Happy Birthday Baby...

One of the many reasons we chose 1st May as our wedding day was because the day after that is Bo's birthday. Last year, right after the wedding reception at the Marquee's Tent in STAR, we continued on to celebrate his birthday at the Blue Note. He thought I forgot his birthday but little did he know that I, Winnie, my brother & sisters & some friends had a little surprise in store for him that night.

After so much booze at the wedding party, we thought we couldn't get anymore wasted. But we did. Thanks to Winnie, the hotel actually gave us 2 free bottles of liquor and a nice little cake. Boy, was he surprised!

Today, again he thought I forgot. He went off to play a birthday celebration golf with his close friends. I did not wish him Happy Birthday at all. I'm going out in a bit to buy him the golf bag that he always wanted & needed.. Gonna cost me a bomb, but he's worth it.

Happy Birthday Baby! 3 more years to your golden age! hahaha!

May 1, 2008

We are one!

Our actual wedding anniversary is 21st April, but since we celebrated it with our family & friends on 1st May last year, we agreed to celebrate the anniversary on the 1st May for every year. Bo actually suggested that we celebrate from the 21st April to the 1st May every year. All 11 days!

This year we are supposed to celebrate it with grandeur! After all, it's our first year anniversary. But since there are many work stuffs to take care of before we can actually go all out & celebrate. We decided to just stay home and cuddle up for the whole day. And we did just that!

I have listed down my wish-list and showed it to Bo for him to consider. He's going to think about it and surprise me with his choice!

Let's just wait & see what happen...
