Women's No. 1 enemy

I have always support Breast Cancer Awareness Programs. My grandmother is a survivor of Breast Cancer. She was diagnosed more than 5 years ago. I watched how she fought the cancer and how her life & personality changed gradually. To make matter worse, the cancer cell spread to her throat (not sure what the medical term for that). But being a strong aged lady she is, she fought and survived. Although she is more fragile now, she tries to live the rest of her life to the fullest. She travels more and her favorite piece of jewelery is the Murano glass rosary I got for her from Venice (goes to show that she likes to be closer to God).

Since then, I have been a regular visitor of The Breast Cancer Site. Even if I'm not buying anything, just a click will help other breast cancer patients around the world to get their mammograms or whatever program they have at the moment.

So When Hannie tagged me this, I feel honored and couldn't wait to spread it around.

All I Want For Christmas is...

My two front teeth, my two front teeth,
Oh! my two front teeth
All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth
So I can wish you merry Christmas!

Wish that is all I want for Christmas! But of course, I sang that song many many years ago and the wish had since came true...

Over an intimate dinner last night, Bo asked me what I want for Christmas this year. To tell the truth, I have been thinking about it secretly... I thought about a lot of things actually... A new bag, THE bvlgari monologo ring, THE chopard happy and the list goes on. In times like this, a girl is spoiled for choice!

But then, I noticed something a few days ago... The first watch he bought me back when we were still dating cracked. The glass is okay, it's only the watches' face. I panicked at first. This particular one has got a sentimental value. After all, it was also the very first present Bo gave me.

When I showed him the watch, the first thing he said was 'Can we get it repaired?' ... Of course we can get it repaired, but don't you think I'd be needing a new watch since I have been wearing that one for the last 4 years?

So last night, when he asked me what I want for Christmas, I sort of guessed that he expected me to answer a new watch. And so I told him I want a new watch. And he knew I'd say that because he told me he has already saw a few that I might like.

I got excited!

We used to give each other a few presents for special occasions. Birthdays, anniversaries, Christmases, promotions... But this time around, since the price of a new watch of my choice is going to cover all the other presents, I promise I'll be content with just that.

My only worry now is what shall I get for him in return?

Go back or stay?

I am contemplating... Go back or stay? Go back to KK for Christmas, I mean.

Family & friends have been asking if we are going back for Christmas this year. Maybe they want to know if they should get Christmas presents for me...

I know going back to KK for Christmas is fun, it's the time of the year when all family members gather around the Christmas tree exchanging gifts and catching up on old times.

It's just that I have been going back to KK for a lot of times this year and going back for Christmas will need a lot of spending. The presents, the golfs, the boardings for Noah, Angel, Chloe & Mikko etc.

On the other hand, Christmas alone here will be lonely. Only me and Bo and maybe my sis who will be due back on the 20th, if she decides to stay here for Christmas. And then there's the party for New Year. I am sure there will be gambling involved.

I need to discuss this with Bo thoroughly. Christmas is just a month's away...

How long has it been?

Oh my! It's been a while since my last update.

Not that I don't have anything to blog about, it's just that I have been occupied with so many things!

I was buried with paperworks and claims since the past 2 weeks. Good news is it means money but the downside of it is I hardly have 'me' time. Bo was no help and the girls were busy with their exams that I have to resort to doing them myself.

And last Monday, I went to JB to fetch my dad who were coming to visit me in the new house for the first time. Since he was there for a golf trip, we thought he might as well come down to KL and stay for a few days. He agreed after much persuasion from Bo with the condition that we get down to JB to get him. And we did, but at the same time, he had a friend who wished to tag along. And Dad stayed for 3 days and all 3 days we spent playing golf and shop and viewing showhouses. I had to take Dad to see some of the houses that I have considered buying. He (in my opinion) is the best person to take on the job to see if the materials used in the construction of the building worth the money I'll be paying. After all, he's an experienced contractor. On Monday was also his birthday. My treat for him was to bring him to a buffet dinner at Neways. He likes to sing, and so is my sis and Bo so what better way to enjoy his birthday than to take him there?

I thought my dad's 3 days visit was very short and I let him know that... But he argued that he's been away for more than a week and the house in KK is empty since Mom was also away in Bali. He didn't know that I sort of guessed that he missed his golf buddies back in KK and maybe he likes to be alone without Mom nagging him back home.

Just a couple of days after Dad left for home, I received another group of visitors. My uncles & aunts and their children. They came for their daughters' convocation and en route to Bali to be re-united with Mom's group. They stayed for a couple of nights and we spent them gambling away on the rummy table. Not that I didn't enjoy the company, but I got to say they overstayed their welcomes when the gambling lasted until midnights, on both nights!

And then I've got to prepare for my sister's trip to Bali for her Spa training. Money to convert, luggage to buy etc etc. And all was settled when she left yesterday.

So, back to norms now. It won't be as hectic again until December when I will be due for my hospitals visits and also for the visits from another group from KK for their Christmas shopping...

Ah well, it's always a pleasure!

Should I or should I not?

Yesterday, I took the girls to Low Yat Plaza to get a new cartridge for the laser printer. I also brought my small laptop for repair. While having dinner with my tech savvy pal Heng the other night, he mentioned that I should change my 11" laptop to a smaller one. Apparently, laptops now come in 9". As I noticed yesterday, they are being called 'PC capsules' or something like that. I quite like one in particular, a Dell at RM1299. But... of course there are buts..

1) It doesn't come with CD drive - which means I have to buy external CD drive and therefore uploading musics to my iTune will be so troublesome.

2) The keypads are so tiny that I think Bo will have trouble typing his email or posting in his favorite forums.

3) At RM1299, it is still cheaper for me to have my current laptop upgraded, re-format and repaired which is only at RM850.

The guys at the Fujitsu was against me giving up my laptop. According to them, Fujitsu has since stopped producing 11'' laptop. It's either the smallest 9" or the bigger one 15". I contemplated at first. If I get a new laptop, I can get Windows Vista and it's easier to bring it around (minus the external drives etc)... Can just chuck it into my handbags. But come to think of it, I seldom bring my laptop around. Except when I go traveling.

MAYBE, just maybe I will get the 9" laptop until I can figure out what to do with my current one. We'll see. Here's the photo of the 9" laptop that I was referring to...
