Out of boredom, I googled the list... and here it is... I'm disappointed with their choice for number 1. Am never a fan of Nirvana's (that's why...)
Blackstreet & Will Smith shouldn't be so low in the list... Spice Girls & Britney Spears shouldn't even make it in the list.. Meredith Brook reminds me of a funny conversation I had with a girlfriend back then.
I guess they picked their choices based on the popluarity, on how many weeks the song made it on their no. 1 list. Because if you ask me, I would give you a totally different list. Then again, our tastes in music are different.

Yeah, that Nirvana song is OVERRATED. No way number 1. What rubbish!
wa panjangnya the list...pengsan!
Yes Dan, it's overrated! And they became super popular after that lead singer died...
Mel - it has to be panjang bah, after all it's in a decade kan... But to tell you the truth, some of the songs I may have heard but don't know the titles or singers. But malas mau youtube all.. hehehhe
That singer was Kurt Cobain, only one of the most talented songwriters in the history of rock. He also almost single handedly started an entire music movement which was known as grunge, which was the rawest, most powerful music created at it's time and any time there after. FYI, they were super famous before he died, that's why he killed himself, cause he didn't want to go pop, cause pop music is synonimous with bratty tween children. Although, the fact he didn't want the fame makes me agree with you guys, because he wouldn't have wanted his song to be #1.
Anonymous - I didn't know Kurt Cobain and have never heard of Nirvana until he died, seriously.. no matter how super famous they were. Goes to show, I've never really liked that sort of music.. It's just noise to me.
What a reason to die, I'd say.. You can just not be a singer or sign any pop deal, right? Rather than take your life... I sure hope he had better reason.
Wow, you must be very naive Mimi to think the band just became popular after Kurt died. You don't have to like a band/artist to know who they are or their name. Nirvana was known worldwide and set a president even before the 90s. Not because of how they acted or what they wore, but their lyrics and performing set a president. He didn't committ suicide because he didn't want to go pop thats rubbish. He was on multiple medication including anti-depressants. Kurt Cobain was private and didn't like the publicity or fame, so being in the industry isn't easy. plus having Courtney Love as a girlfriend probably wasn't easy either ha. In order to make a judgement about a music genre, at least be educated about it to make a fair educated judgement.
