Last Sunday, my youngest sister joined the Unduk Ngadau, not the state level, just the kampung level... Hehehehe.. And guess what? she came in first! Now, that's the first in our family.
The Kaamatan festival is celebarted in our kampung every year ever since I can remember. They will be all the normal competitions. But the highlight is of course the beauty contest. My sister is not the first one to have joined this. I have too, and won some.. hehehe... but only second placing, when I was 14! Actually, I don't like to join these sort of competitions. It's so embarrasing, especially when the audiences were your school friends.
But, the tradition is continuing... and it's my sister's turn this year... What can I say, it's in our culture and there's no escaping! So, here's picture of my sister with her traditional costume;
This little girl may be doing the same thing in 10-15 years from now... :)
