I've been meaning to blog about this for quite a while now but since our return from KK trip, I have been pretty occupied. But never think I have forgotten!
On our last trip back to KK, Bo & me decided to check out One Borneo (or 1B, as my sisters call it) since everybody at home couldn't stop praising its size and boutiques. I know as a Sabahan, I should be proud of this 'accomplishment'.
I was quite impressed with the size, yes... Everything else? Not really.
But the one thing that I was disappointed with was the 'VIP' washroom. As weird as this sound, the first thing we looked for as we arrived 1B was the washroom. The signage led us to the ones on the ground floor, if I'm not mistaken, opposite Starbucks and on the right side of the concierge desk. When the sign stated that it's RM1 for one entry, I couldn't be more relieved. As most of you know, the washrooms in almost all Malaysian malls are not in the cleanest state even if we have to pay to use it. So, I thought RM1 would mean that the washroom will be of 'hotel standard' and would smell of lavender oil the least.
Instead, it smelt of urine and the floor was wet everywhere, it made me feel like I was exposed although I had my high heel pump on. They were just 3 toilet cubicles in it and I had to wait to use it. When someone came out, she was the salesgirl I suspected from one of the boutiques, because she had this name tag on. She was also holding like a pass card for access to the washroom (I could be wrong though). Already I felt being cheated!
Only after washing my hand did I realize that there was not paper towels available, only that electronic hand dryer/blower that I don't really like using.
I wanted to complain! When I walked out, I saw Bo outside talking to the lady who's in charge of collecting the washroom tolls. I told them I wanted to complain, the washroom wasn't in the condition that you could call VIP... The lady told us to go ahead, make the complain and see if the management will do something about it! I mean, for her to say that made me feel even more violated! Bo started to raise up his voice when I pulled him away and said we should go to the concierge desk and make our complaint there.
When we complained to the concierge guy though, he told us to write a complaint letter to the management. I got the email address and I am still contemplating now whether to write the letter or not. First, because I don't think I would like to return there again in the future, at least not when it's involving me using the washroom.
I mean, 1B is a new building... How hard is it to maintain a small portion like some washrooms? You know when you go to someone's house for the first time, and you notice that the toilet is dirty, it normally means that the family is not hygienic and probably put you off the food & drink they'd offer you?
By the way, it was on a Thursday when we went there... I probably shrug it off if it was on a weekend. And there wasn't many patron around to have them get away with dirty washrooms. I wonder what sort of excuse they'd give, if I were to complain?
*SIGH*
