Washroom issue

I've been meaning to blog about this for quite a while now but since our return from KK trip, I have been pretty occupied. But never think I have forgotten!

On our last trip back to KK, Bo & me decided to check out One Borneo (or 1B, as my sisters call it) since everybody at home couldn't stop praising its size and boutiques. I know as a Sabahan, I should be proud of this 'accomplishment'.

I was quite impressed with the size, yes... Everything else? Not really.

But the one thing that I was disappointed with was the 'VIP' washroom. As weird as this sound, the first thing we looked for as we arrived 1B was the washroom. The signage led us to the ones on the ground floor, if I'm not mistaken, opposite Starbucks and on the right side of the concierge desk. When the sign stated that it's RM1 for one entry, I couldn't be more relieved. As most of you know, the washrooms in almost all Malaysian malls are not in the cleanest state even if we have to pay to use it. So, I thought RM1 would mean that the washroom will be of 'hotel standard' and would smell of lavender oil the least.

Instead, it smelt of urine and the floor was wet everywhere, it made me feel like I was exposed although I had my high heel pump on. They were just 3 toilet cubicles in it and I had to wait to use it. When someone came out, she was the salesgirl I suspected from one of the boutiques, because she had this name tag on. She was also holding like a pass card for access to the washroom (I could be wrong though). Already I felt being cheated!

Only after washing my hand did I realize that there was not paper towels available, only that electronic hand dryer/blower that I don't really like using.

I wanted to complain! When I walked out, I saw Bo outside talking to the lady who's in charge of collecting the washroom tolls. I told them I wanted to complain, the washroom wasn't in the condition that you could call VIP... The lady told us to go ahead, make the complain and see if the management will do something about it! I mean, for her to say that made me feel even more violated! Bo started to raise up his voice when I pulled him away and said we should go to the concierge desk and make our complaint there.

When we complained to the concierge guy though, he told us to write a complaint letter to the management. I got the email address and I am still contemplating now whether to write the letter or not. First, because I don't think I would like to return there again in the future, at least not when it's involving me using the washroom.

I mean, 1B is a new building... How hard is it to maintain a small portion like some washrooms? You know when you go to someone's house for the first time, and you notice that the toilet is dirty, it normally means that the family is not hygienic and probably put you off the food & drink they'd offer you?

By the way, it was on a Thursday when we went there... I probably shrug it off if it was on a weekend. And there wasn't many patron around to have them get away with dirty washrooms. I wonder what sort of excuse they'd give, if I were to complain?

*SIGH*

Accidental Holiday

Bo is supposed to have a business meeting in JB this afternoon, so we left KL yesterday afternoon so we can have a round of golf this morning and would be finished for the meeting just in time.

However, half an hour through golf, the man he's supposed to go into the meeting with called to cancel due to an emergency. And that left Bo & me free the whole afternoon. Contemplating whether we should stay another night or leave for KL this afternoon.

We decided to stay. And here I am in Sofitel JB room, waiting for my appointment at the Mandara Spa and couldn't swim in their swimming pool and show off my fat tummy since it's raining cats & dogs outside. Bo has left to meet with his family and I didn't want to join, since spa is more enjoyable... :P

I have already made reservation for dinner tonight and a drinking session will follow right after. It's been a while since we had something like this... Used to do it a lot before we got married though.

I like this, an accidental holiday. One that we didn't plan...

*Secretly wishing that something like this will happen again in the future*

Hunting starts again.

I know I just moved to the house I'm currently staying for not even a year. But I am already looking for a new place to stay.

When I was staying at the apartment in USJ, I wanted so badly to stay and feel how it feels like to stay at a landed house. But now that I've tried it, I don't really like it. Sure, it's nice to have compound and big space; but on the other hand, it also means more costly and high maintenance.

So, I have decided... to look for an apartment somewhere convenient with big enough space for me to keep all my furniture but small enough for me to easily maintain it. I have begun hunting today. I have several properties up for consideration. I'd like to rent first before purchasing a unit. That's what I've been doing all these times. That way, I'd know if I like that place before committing to it.

I will talk about my findings soon. At the moment, the apartments at the areas I'm interested in are either too small or not ready yet.

Wish me luck!

The Smile Factor

I just came back from The Smile Clinic. Still having so much pain & 3000 RM poorer. What for, you ask? A picture speaks a thousand words, so I'm letting my picture tell you the story.

Actually, they are better looking than in the picture. The 'squarish' parts actually came with colorful stones... I forgot to tell the dentist I want them all in pink color!!

You'll see my nicer smile with straighter teeth in a year's time. In the meantime, I have to deal with the constant discomfort in my mouth.. They said I could lose weight... we'll see :)

No rose & chocolate involved

Bo & me decided to celebrate Valentine's Day yesterday. We went for a dinner at the Italian restaurant at Saujana. Partly to celebrate Valentine's and partly hoping that we'd bump into some of the pro who we suspected would be staying at the hotel.

I know it's pathetic. But hey, this opportunity only comes once in a year. And meeting up with them is like meeting up with any celebrities... So rare! Not to mention, being sport people, they are so easy on the eyes. And cute too, despite the sun tanned skin and sweat. But I'd say, golf is the only widely accepted sport in Malaysia that has the players wearing a nice tailored pant and collared shirt. Very gentlemanly.... Hmmm, I like!

Anyway, we saw a few pros had dinner at the same restaurant we were in. But, I didn't want to be rude so I didn't go up to their tables and disturb their dinners just for some autographs and photos. If it was Tiger Wood though, it would be different story.

After our scrumptious dinner, we went to meet up with a couple of friends who also had their Valentine's dinner a night early. We went to Zeta bar at KL Hilton. I'd enjoy the place & music if I didn't have the annoying cough. And the cigarette smokes that filled up the whole area was a bit too much. The 5-girls Canadian band was okay. It's a different scene from the Filipino band we saw last week at BED. Since both Bo & me were coughing hard and I started to feel my throat swelling up, we went home early.

And this morning, on St. Valentine's Day, I lost my voice... Didn't stop me to shout (or tried to) whenever a pro made an excellent shot at Hole No 18, where I sat for almost 5 hours. And that's my Valentine's Day celebration this year... No rose & chocolate involved.

The busiest week

I had the busiest week in KK, as I expected.

It started with my brother announcing that he had proposed to his girlfriend, whom I met for the first time that day. We were naturally happy. It's about time. And he's our only brother. And then the drama begun... coming from a multi-racial family, we are still unsure of which culture to take as guideline when it comes to events like this. My brother told us he wanted a simple wedding and the 'engagement entourage' was not in their mind. But my mother insisted. She insisted that they have to do this because of theKadazan Dusun culture. And that left my brother with headache and confusion. And so the drama continues...

That drama dragged for days I was there. Most of my times were spent having meeting with Dad, my brother, his fiancee and Bo about this.

Anyway, I was supposed to meet Chegu Carol at the Miss Oriental D'junction on the 6th of February but I got the date wrong. I thought it was on the 7th! I saw Carol's text at 11 pm, she sent it at 9pm! If I were to read it on the spot, I would've got ready in a flash and went. But 11pm was a bit too late. Worse thing was, I have asked several other friends to meet me there for the catching up and such! I had to send them text messages to cancel and re-arrange.

I met Carol for breakfast the next day instead.

I missed meeting up Alice & Quirin though... However, I hope to go back again in March... Girls, can we have our coffee by then? Maybe lunch and coffee?

My one year

It was my one year anniversary in the blogsphere 2 days ago.

I wanted to write something about it and I put a reminder on my Outlook so I won't forget.

And I still forgot, to even turn on my notebook and see the reminder pop-up. So, here I am, 2 days overdue and wanting to say: here's to all the readers, hope you'll follow my blog to the day I stop writing.

Cheers!
